Aging can lead to changes in the levels of gene expression of the skin, negatively affecting skin's str-uctural integrity and resulting in dry, dull and sagging skin as well as the appearance of wrinkles. However, brown seaweed polysaccharides have been found to restore the expression levels of specific genes in senescent fibroblasts, in turn improving barrier function and hydration, increasing elasticity and reducing wrinkles.
